The Eva Longoria Foundation, with the backing of the Courage and Civility Award, announced a $1 million pledge on Monday to aid California wildfire relief efforts.
Former HUD Secretary Julián Castro shared the news on social media, revealing that the funds will support two critical organizations:
- Latino Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund
- California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund
Both organizations are collaborating with grassroots groups actively working in affected communities to address immediate and long-term needs.
Wildfires in Los Angeles County
Los Angeles County is currently battling three wildfires:
- Palisades Fire
- Eaton Fire (originating in Altadena)
- Hurst Fire
To date, the fires have claimed 24 lives, burned over 38,000 acres, and destroyed more than 3,100 structures, with the hardest-hit areas being the Palisades and Altadena.

Courage and Civility Award
The donation is made possible by the Courage and Civility Award, which Amazon founder Jeff Bezos granted to Eva Longoria in March 2024.
The award, also given to retired Navy admiral Bill McRaven, recognizes individuals making significant societal contributions and came with $50 million for each recipient to support charitable initiatives.
Longoria’s Continued Involvement
Longoria will discuss the foundation’s wildfire relief efforts further on Tuesday while co-hosting NBC’s Jenna & Friends. Following her appearance, she plans to return to Los Angeles to:

- Volunteer with Global Empowerment Mission
- Visit World Central Kitchen’s Eaton Fire operations
This pledge underscores Longoria’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities during times of crisis.
For those looking to contribute, organizations like the Latino Community Foundation, California Community Foundation, and other local groups are accepting donations to aid recovery efforts.
