Amber Alert Issued for Missing 5-Year-Old in Tavares, Florida
TAVARES, Fla. – Authorities have issued an AMBER Alert for 5-year-old Jace Saunders, who was last seen on Sunday in Tavares, Florida.
Jace, who is semi-verbal and has autism, was last spotted wearing a black graphic t-shirt and dark-colored pajamas near the 1000th block of Wells Avenue. Police believe he may be with his grandmother, 50-year-old Kelly Day-Dasilva, who is wanted for kidnapping and interference with child custody.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) alert, the pair may be traveling in a black Honda Accord.
The case stems from an ongoing investigation by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). Tavares Police reported that Jace’s parents were arrested on Sunday for interference with child custody related to the DCF inquiry.
Police are actively searching for Day-Dasilva and the child. Authorities urge the public to contact law enforcement with any information regarding their whereabouts but warn against approaching them.
“Our detectives and officers are still following leads, but any assistance from the community would be appreciated,” said Tavares Police in a Facebook post. Anyone with information can contact the police at (352) 343-2101, option 4, or call 911.
